Sonia has been living and working in Canberra with her GP husband, since 1998. She has had experience as a General Practitioner for over a decade, with a longstanding interest and commitment to issues of Women’s Health and Preventative Medicine. Sonia is a lecturer at the Academic Unit of General Practice, and the GP Hospital Medical Educator, at Canberra Hospital. She has enjoyed teaching junior medical officers since 2008, and now medical students, in general practice education. Sonia is a working mum, with a 3 year old daughter, and like all women, tries to best juggle work and home life. She sees this challenge in our female patients, as they also try to juggle job, partners, children and home, and the associated health issues that can sometimes arise.

As a Women’s Health Practitioner, Sonia offers:

  • Pap smears and breast examinations
  • Pre-pregnancy counselling
  • Family planning and contraceptive advice
  • Management of menstrual disorders
  • Menopausal health
  • Fertility advice and investigations
  • Managing psychological aspect of women’s health
  • Sexual health and STI screening
